Aligns the display output(below) either left, right or center justified. This image is passed along in your order. Alignment requires 2 or more lines of text. TIP: You can also indent text by using spaces before and after the text to move the line text to the left or right.
Sets a background to the preview so that you can judge the text color against a background color. Backgrounds are not provided in the order. All letters come as individual letters or numbers. We do not make the sign, we help you to make your sign.
Molded or cast letters come in standard and custom sizes. The standard sizes contain only the sizes for which the molds are already made which lessens the cost and production time. Custom sizes are available in 1" increments from 4" to 36" and you will only see this when you have selected a custom font from the list. If your font is a standard font then the sizes shown are the only ones available for that standard font. Changinng the size effects the mounts available and as well as providing a new preview image at the new size. It's very intuitive if you give it a bit of your time.
Molded and cast letters have set letter depths which vary based on the letter size. You can see the letter depths for each line on the information bar under this line. As you select different fonts or sizes this value will change accordingly.
Choose a symbol from the popover list.
There is no need to use more than one line unless you are creating a sign that will have text on more than one row, or if you have different sizes or colors or fonts for each row. All letters and numbers are priced including comma's and periods and hyphens, so do not use them to space things, use the space bar. If you are ordering numbers for doors etc, put them all on one line like this "123456789 10 11 12" Note the spaces. There is no need to use more than one line unless you have different sizes, colors or fonts.
Type in the letters, numbers and punctuation, exactly as you want it to read when you make your sign. For multiple line signs, you can add as many new lines as needed. What you type is what you will get. If lower case letters are typed and the size is too small or lower case is not available in the chosen font, those letters will automatically convert to upper case and should convert back again when you change the height or size to something that has availability. What you type here will display in the preview area under the designer, along with correct real world dimensions. All letters are sent to you as individual letters and numbers, not as a ready made sign.
If you want larger leading capitals in a phrase then you have to add the larger caps on a separate line.
If you want to measure a single letter then type it on its own in line one and look at the preview area where it will tell you the actual height and width of that letter. Bear in mind that not all fonts are created equal. You will get different measurements depending on the font selected.
There are 29 CAB colors which is the color of the material through and through. These are all gloss colors and are the cheapest option available. Beyond that there are 46 painted colors which are weatherproof and UV resistant and painted with quality architectural paints from PPG, the same folks that make automobile paint. Painting is performed in state of the art paint booths and are buffed to a professional finish like you would expect on your car. Selecting a painted finish adds 30% to the cost but gives you the ability to have gloss levels including full gloss, semi-gloss, satin or matte. If you need a custom color we can do that too. Just provide your Pantone PMS# or a Sherwin Williams, Baer or other color number and name and we will special mix the paint. Adds $20 per color mix to the job.
Molded and cast letters are hollow in the back and require some form of mounting hardware to properly install them. We populate the selection box with the available mounts based on the sizes you have selected.
The factory recommends 2" of stud in the wall plus the amount of wall standoff desired, if any. In most cases it is best to leave this option at factory set unless you know you want longer studs for a special purpose installation
If wall standoff is required, ie: letter backs are not flush to wall surface, then its best to order a combination all mount which will give you adjustability. Specify in this box the distance the back of the letter should be from the wall.
The free spacing guide does not provide drill locations for studs and should not be ordered where you have chosen a stud or combination type mount. For all stud type mounts you need a full size pattern shown above. This pattern cannot be ordered after the letters have shipped. The factory need the letters in hand to provide any form of pattern or guide.
We make no profit on the pattern. We sell the pattern at our cost which is $3.25 per letter. Our competition typically charge $4.50 per letter which is the MSRP. Patterns are not returnable.
When a quantity is set(such as for 2 sides of a sign), you will need a seperate pattern for each set IF the mount type is stud or combination or combo all. You will be charged for (x) patterns plus (x) copies of the letters.
The profile of a letter or number is how you will see it when you view it edge on. Whenever you choose a standard font this option is disabled from user selection because all standard fonts already have the molds made and cannot be changed. When a custom font is selected, this control becomes user selectable and does affect the price. Watch for changes.
A bevel face profile will have a prismatic look like a roof, rising steeply from the edge to the center of the letter stroke. A Round profile will have a half moon face that is rounded from edge to edge. A flat face profile will have slightly rounded corners due to the molding process and then be flat from edge to edge.
