Metal faced acrylic sign letters, numbers and logos are highly decorative display letters, offering a 2 tone look of real metals such as brass, aluminum, copper and stainless steel, securely bonded to a thicker acrylic substrate that provides a contrasting edge.
Ideal for foyers, reception areas, waiting rooms, employee recognition walls and many other applications, they can also be very easy to mount and remove for cleaning and when you want to change the wall color. Alongside of more traditional mounting methods such as stud mounts and double side tapes, we offer a keyhole mounting method that allows you to hang your letters on drywall screws, hidden from view. Using this method avoids the use of messy glues and drilling holes into walls. A keyhole mount is as easy as hanging a picture and with our full size mounting pattern to guide you, you won't have to worry about getting the letters spaced or correctly oriented, everything is done for you.
Laminated metal acrylic sign letters are made from the finest materials. Our metal sheets are only 0.20" thick and come pre finished and anodized for long life and maintenance free use. We use cast acrylic sheet in various colors, laminating the two materials together under high pressure with 3M laminating adhesives made specially for the purpose.
We have many finishes to choose from, including polished brass, polished smoked aluminum, brushed satin aluminum and many more. If you have a need for really good looking sign letters that will convey your message with distinction, metal faced acrylic sign letters are what you have been looking for.
Laminated Metal Acrylic letters are only warranted for indoor use. Some folks have used them outside without any adverse effects but the possibility of delamination can occur due to the varying expansion rates of the acrylic substrate and the metal face. We do not recommend outdoor use of this product, nor will we warrant it if used outdoors, but we will clear coat them for use outside if you are willing to take the risk. The clear coating is to protect the metal, and will not reduce the risk of delamination.

Installation Hardware
Mount with small spots of silicon adhesive directly to a flat dry surface. This option can be a bit messy and care must be taken to ensure that silicon doesn't squeeze out from the sides. Pinhead amounts should be used, dotted around the back surface in strategic locations. Masking tape will be needed to hold the letters in place while the silicon dries. A good alternative is to use some double stick tape in places that will do the initial holding while the silicon sets.
Not many companies offer this but its an excellent way to mount letters indoors where you may later want to remove them for painting the wall or to relocate. With this mount and a mounting pattern, all you do is run drywall screws into the wall, deep enough so their heads protrude, then locate the heads over the large keyhole opening, push toward the wall and pull down to lock in place. No drilling, no glue, and easily removable for painting or moving. Requires fonts large enough and thick enough to accommodate the depth of the keyhole and the
size of its opening. Usually 6" and above and 3/8" or more thick.
High quality, general purpose double sided tape makes mounting a breeze. Not recommended outside but can be used outside if silicon caulk is used between the tape strips.
On thinner letters up to 1/4" thick, we have to glue on threaded stud blocks to accept all threaded rod (studs). In general this will stand the letters off the wall about 1/4" to 1/2" depending on the letter size. Mounting this type of letter requires drilling the wall or mounting surface to accept the metal studs. A mounting pattern is highly recommended to locate the correct places to drill. Once the holes are drilled, screw studs into the stud blocks being careful not to over tighten, then fill the holes with silicon caulk, coat the studs and push the assembly into the wall up to where the stud block meets the wall surface.
On thicker letters, 3/8" and 1/2", we can drill and tap the backs of the letters to accept the threaded rods (studs). Mounting is the same as for the stud boss above except that the studs go all the way into the wall for a flush mount.
Mounting Methods and Installation Tips
One of the most frequent questions we get is how to install the sign letters. Most people imagine some form of anchor is attached to the wall onto which the letters are mounted. Fortunately, it's not that complicated. Any tools you need you most likely have at home.
Types of Mounts
We sell a wide variety of sign letter products. Each type of letter has its own mounting requirement. There is no "one-method-fits-all." Some sign letters are hollow in the back and require either a stud or pad mounting to properly install. Other letters are solid material, like the flat cut-out acrylic letters and the flat cut-out aluminum letters. Because these letters are solid material and flat on the back, they can be mounted without hardware.
In general there are 2 mounting method categories to choose from.

Installing Sign Letters Using Anchor Mounts
You need a long bubble level or better still a laser level.
An electric drill and perhaps some masonry drill bits.
Something to blow debris from the holes you drill, a turkey baster works well or even the exhaust ports on your drill will often be enough to blow out the debris.
Lastly you need enough Silicon Caulk to fill all of the holes you drill.
A mounting pattern, is optional, but it will save you a lot of time and almost guarantee a professionally spaced and aligned installation. You you can order one from us. They are well worth their modest cost!
Adhesive Mounts:
Pad Mount
Flange Mount
Double-Sided Tape
Direct Adhesion with Silicon Caulk or Construction Adhesive
Installing Sign Letters Using Adhesive Mounts
Instructions apply whether you choose pad mounts, adjustable pad mounts or no mounts at all. For no-mount installations on a flat, dry surface, use small drops of silicon caulk on the back of each sign letter. This type of mount works better indoors.
For double-sided tape (tape provided with the letters or by you) use small drops of silicon caulk between the pieces of double-sided tape to ensure against the tape drying out after a period of time and no longer holding the letters.

Mounting Pattern for Sign Letters
Patterns come in several forms depending on the manufacturer of your letters.
For stud mounted installations, your pattern will be the actual, full-size of your finished sign. All letters, numbers, punctuation, and logos (if ordered) will be clearly drawn and properly spaced on the pattern. Signs that have multiple lines of text will be aligned to your specifications and all of the required stud locations are marked on the pattern.
For pad mounts or other adhesive based installation methods, you can buy a pounce pattern or use the free spacing tape offered with some of our products. The pounce pattern is a full size, fully aligned and spaced pattern. Instead of it being marked with mounting holes, the letters are drawn on the pattern and perforated around their outer edge. Just tape the pattern in place, rub chalk over the holes to leave a chalk outline on the mounting surface. Install your letters, then wash the off chalk. The free spacing tape only provides spacing information on where to place each sign letter in relation to the one preceding it. Vertical and horizontal alignment will be up to you.
